It's been a while...

Well, it's been almost two weeks since I last posted and I've certainly been busy. I helped my fiance's family move into their new house, which was a bit taxing and my sorority wrapped up recruitment.

I started a sweater for my current favorite baby cousin but it's turning out to take a little longer than I feel like spending on it. I think I'll frog it and find something more interesting to work on. Maybe one of the million other projects that I have yarn for.

I got the book Sensational Knitted Socks and I absolutely adore it. It has basic patterns that let you choose any yarn and stitch pattern that you want...I don't think I'll ever buy another sock book. I'm working on a four stitch pattern out of Plymouth Encore #2426. All I have to do is graft the toe and weave in ends on the second one and I'm done!

I've been wondering why my circular knitting 'torques' all the time and I finally got up the nerve to go to my LYS for help. Apparently I've been knitting wrong! I twist every stitch. If only someone had told me sooner! The only solution, of course, was to get Blue Skys Alpaca to knit a scarf and relearn the right way.

Still don't have a digital camera, so the blog remains pictureless.

Man Scarf as FO

The man scarf is finished as of last night. It's a little on the short side, which is what I expected but he only gave me two skeins of yarn. I just need to block it so the edges stop curling in on the cable. My fiance says that if his little brother doesn't like it then he'll take it.

Now I'm trying to figure out what to start next. I want to work on a lopi sweater that I have supplies for, but I'm a little scared because the only sweater I've ever made was raglan, so I didn't have to do any finishing. I might do a baby sweater for my adorable cousin first. I'll probably decide tonight at Knit Wits and get some advice from my fellow knitters.

I continue to be obsessed with reading about knitting. I'm finishing Zen and the Art of Knitting and I just got When Bad Things Happen to Good Knitters. I'm reading the Yarn Harlot blog whenever I can, too. I keep thinking to myself that I would probably get a lot more knitting done if I wasn't reading so much, but I can't help myself.

Man Scarf

At times, my fiance's little brother can be adorable. At other times he really isn't. But this Christmas I thought that it was really sweet that he brought me some Wool-Ease Chunky and asked for a hat and scarf.

I didn't think much of it but was really looking forward to designing the scarf. The future in-laws gave me a stitch dictionary for Christmas and I was planning on using that to find something very boyish. I've been swatching ever since and it took me until this morning to cast on to a cabled but lame pattern (I really didn't want to use a pattern) from Lion Brand's site. It should look nice and hopefully it will be done by the time I see them this weekend. The hat's long off the needles.

The Beginning

I have truly been inspired. I've been checking out lots of blogs and reading knitting books lately and I discovered that it is time. I may not have been knitting for long, but I'm addicted. And what does any addicted knitter do? That's right, she starts a blog.
